Olinga Services

Olinga Services, specialists in commercial cleaning and sanitising services, is working with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and Sydney Trains to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission on public transport services including buses and trains as well as transport hubs throughout Sydney.

With schools returning, workplaces reopening, nightlife resuming and the city reverting to a level of normalcy, the public transport system is once again being heavily relied upon to get commuters to and from their homes safely and free from stresses.

Following a successful trial, Minister for Roads and Transport, Andrew Constance, announced the formation of dedicated COVID cleaning teams to keep commuters safe and reduce the risk and spread of COVID-19. This initiative is part of NSW Government’s CBD Revitalisation Program and is in addition to the existing Sydney Trains’ In-Transit and Bus Layover Sanitising Programs.

The focus on safe transport is part of the CBD Revitalisation Program, with Olinga Services mobile cleaning teams sanitising all high touch points in high-traffic areas throughout Sydney CBD using a disinfectant that is TGA approved to kill the COVID-19 virus. From handrails to ticket machines, bus shelters, benches, all high touch points across the CBD travel hubs will be sanitised to minimise the potential transmission of COVID-19. This is in addition to the In-Transit and Bus Layover cleaning teams who sanitise all high touch points inside trains and buses across the Sydney network.

Throughout the CBD, over 1,000 touch points are being cleaned during peak travel periods in the morning and evening at transport hubs including Central, Town Hall, Wynyard, Circular Quay and Martin Place. On weekends, Olinga Services cleaning teams work during the day and into the evening to ensure clean and safe travel. Teams will also be handing out face masks to commuters, with Olinga Services successfully handing out over 92,000 masks to date including throughout the Northern Beaches outbreak to keep travellers safe.

The dedicated, rapid-response cleaning teams are working to help ensure the safety not only of commuters, but also the safety of the drivers and wider employees of TfNSW and Sydney Trains.

Olinga Services provides real-time reporting to NSW Government, TfNSW and Sydney Trains via the Olinga-App, which provides full transparency of the work being completed, which is then fed through to apps such as Anytrip and other third-party apps in real time.

General Manager Badi Mahabat said “Olinga Services is known for our innovation and the quality of the work our team delivers. We know we will continue to see success in mitigating the risk of COVID-19 on Sydney’s public transport because we are confident in our processes – from our cleaning practices to our real-time reporting and the on-going training of our staff. Our expert team is there to provide businesses, workers, residents, and visitors the knowledge they can enter the Sydney CBD area with confidence and give them peace of mind when commuting on public transport.”

Olinga Services is looking forward to continuing their partnership with NSW Government and TfNSW on the expansion and implementation of the next stage of their COVID-19 risk minimisation plan.
